Uncle Sam Offers Cheap Solar Panel

With this years rising energy costs you’re probably looking for ways to cut your utility bills. If you’re looking for a cheap solar panel because you’re considering installing solar electric or solar water heating in your home then you’d be wise to act immediately. The Energy Policy Act of 2005 brought in a 30% tax credit of up to $2,000 for the purchase and installation of residential systems. In order to qualify it must be certified for performance by the SRCC or similar body endorsed by the State in which the property is situated. To be eligible for the credit the system must be ready for action on or before December 31st 2008. (An extension from the original date of end of 2007).

Other energy tax breaks can be obtained by buying a new energy efficient boiler or furnace. Look for items with an “Energystar” logo on them and you could save up to $150. (see energystar.gov for more information). Or you could simply take a trip to your local Lowes Or Menard’s home improvement store and take simple steps such as buying a programmable thermostat that you can set to automatically turn down the heat when you’re not in the house, or at night. Or buy a new filter for your furnace and thus save on fuel. Browsing your local store will give you lots of ideas.
